May the odds ever be in your favour.

Today I'll be doing a longer post (to get me going as I am in writers block for my essay) on The Hunger Games! Last night after dinner I went to watch the movie with a friend at 10:30pm. Exhausting to watch a 2 and half hour movie in the middle of the night... I have personally read the book myself and really enjoyed it, finishing it in a day. It provided a whole new aspect of the world, something that is realistic in the sense it is always possible to end up in a state like Panem.

As I watched the movie I noticed they altered certain aspects of detail, which I didn't really mind because it was a movie. But what I didn't like was the fact some of the things they took out or changed or completely cut out of the movie made the movie lack in terms of a smooth storyline. It made it hard for people to actually understand the movie unless they
1. really payed attention the whole 2 hours

2. read the book previously

3. able to interpret things on their own

Now the movie was very visually appealing and the amazing amount of extras was mind-blowing to me. It did tell for the most part what the story was about, but it really lacked appeal in terms of conversation and plot line. It took out a lot more of the idea of "star-crossed lovers" which is very key in the novel. It also really removed the connections between the characters, only really focusing on Katniss and her world and decision, not really her relationships with others, something that i found really important in terms of the novel. The movie ran in a fast paced environment without much explanations and that was what really disappointed me. I enjoyed the actors and actresses because they played their part well. Jennifer Lawrence definitely had the perfect personality and acting to go with the character Katniss, she exuded the charms of Katniss with her acting and definitely can't wait to see more of her. (I liked her in x-men as well haha)

On to the next point of my post! As someone who really loves fashion, and loves affordable fashion I was inspired by the outfits in the movie. I love the down to earth, huntress kind of look Katniss Everdeen had, with the braids, wavy hair and not too feminine style of clothing. It's a style anyone can interpret back into their day to day clothes and with spring coming the weather is perfect to try this style out when you're out and about. So i'll show you multiple pieces that i've found and put together of ways you can dress up in the same style!

Some inspiration for those who love Katniss's style just as much as I do. Keep the accessories minimal with maybe some bracelets and a simple necklace to match. For Bags, try to go for earth tones and canvas/cloth material with hobo bags, bucket bags, messenger bags or a slouchy backpack. Just braid or crimp your hair and you're ready to go!

Hopefully some of you enjoyed this post ^-^

Crossing the line

I’ve been thinking so much about the future and really where I want to go with it. There are so many things I want to do and people I definitely must meet and places I must live in. I don’t feel like someone who should stay put in my own little town and wander aimlessly, I want to aim for the best and biggest goals I can see. Regardless of how “impossible” it may seem to people. I know a lot of people around me don’t even know what to do with their lives, but then again think about the things you’re so passionate about and the things you truly love. What do you want to do for yourself and the world? What kind of role do you want to play? What kinds of jobs have you ever thought of aspiring to be? There are actually so many options laid out right in front of you but you’re thinking too hard and just miss it. I want a life where I can live freely doing the job i enjoy and love. I don’t want to be holed up in a cubical somewhere regretting not taking clear look at what I could’ve done. Don’t stress, don’t worry to much, focus on the things you strive for and take a look at what you’ve already been doing and what you want to accomplish.
On a side note; I’ve been working very hard to keep as CLEAN of a diet as I can drinking more water and less sodium in my diet, unhealthy foods etc (i’ll give myself a few freebies every month :D) I have also been working out as often as I can. I hope to drop around 10lbs in 2-3months! for prom and for a nicer fit body :P. My life is taking a turn and I’m going to be working twice as hard towards the things I want! I can’t wait for summertime though truthfully haha.

So i’m going to ask;

What kind of goals do you have? Where do you want to go? What kinds of things are you passionate about? and What have you been doing to achieve these goals?

on a side note All Canadian Directioners(? is that what we call you haha) or One Direction fans HMV right at this moment has a limited amount of signed One Direction t-shirts at Fairview Mall So go pick them up now!

I haven't posted in awhile

Because I have always found Tumblr to be overwhelmingly easier because It requires a whole lot less work in terms of running a blog and the interface allows me to basically reblog all day and gain followers with the same interests It was so hard to even come back to this blogspot blog. I started my own little separate blog on tumblr with more personally thoughts but to no avail would it ever gather serious interest. So today I'm going to be posting my first post i posted on that blog which i named "deucedly me" the life of a perspicacious girl. Big words I know. But interesting post for those interested perhaps ^-^

While deciding what to name my blog I thought about using my own name at first, but personally that felt kind of bland… flavourless and plain. So going on dictionary.com (I don’t know if that sounds lame or not) I decided to use the word of the day Deucedly. And might you ask what this word even means? You probably haven’t heard of it and I haven’t either till now… In gist it means insanely, devilishly, madly, deadly etc etc used in contextDeucedly Clever. Kind of defines where I currently see myself stand, and an interesting term to use over typical words we use daily.

Onto an actual topic I’ve been thinking about lately, (hopefully that little paragraph did not bore you too much) defining ourselves, our character, our personality and what it means to be called an individual. Before the person with friends, family, peers, what are we? I mean it’s quite obvious that we are ourselves and our own person but how much of that do we really show and how much of that do we choose to portray. Do we act and pretend or do we really take on and face who we are, what we want to be, where we want to go and just about anything else that we ourselves wish to be? I recently had a long conversation one night with a friend and how they struggle with being true to themselves, too stubborn to let go of things to do what they want and find happiness for themselves first.

I think this past half year I’ve truly discovered and learned to understand and define who I am. Not what people want me to be or what people think of me as, because things like that don’t really matter. I don’t act and put up a front to anyone and stay true to my feelings, regardless of things i tell or don’t tell to people. I really hate having to see people act and pretend their way through life because they don’t understand how much more people will come to appreciate them for who they are. You may gain new friends and you may lose some old ones but that just shows who will stay and who only stuck around for now. We lose focus of our goals because of all these obstacles and excuses we use “because my parents are against it” respect your parents but at the same time they should respect you, “because my friends may judge me for it” it is your choice(in which i hope is a good choice) but no one has a right to judge you before they have even tried to look at themselves, “because the person i love i may lose cause of this” aside from cheating your life choices should be respected and if its a mutual love it should be communicated to a mutual understanding. No matter how tough it is to get through to these people, at the end of the day it is your life and in the next 20 to 30 years you are going to be living it not the people around you. I felt like getting this idea across of how i have found learning about yourself first and your needs and goals is so important before anyone else’s goal for you.

It is true that if you can not love yourself, how can you love someone else? If you can not be happy on your own as an individual, how can you make someone else happy together? If you do not understand yourself the least bit, how can you even try to understand someone else?
Hopefully some of you have read this far and maybe this post will give you something to think about!
